I don't know if you have any control over what blog software Inside Firefox uses, but if you want to put a vice on spam, you should seriously look at WordPress.
WordPress and Akismet do a fantastic job at blocking blog spam.
I used to use MovableType back in the day, but when I found WordPress, I changed over almost immediately. Also, I have looked at and even ran most of the blogging tools out there. Yet I always return to WordPress.
Just wanted to pass this on incase you hadn't thought of it.
