Family disgusted by 'pathetic' jail term for killer
The incident, for those not inclined to click the link: A teenager threw a sheet of concrete over a freeway overpass onto oncoming traffic. The concrete slab went through the windscreen of an oncoming car and killed the driver. The kid gets convicted of manslaughter and sent away for four years.
This happened less than a mile from my grandparents' house on a bridge most Aucklanders have driven under hundreds or thousands of times. This random act of violence could have affected any of us.
The criminal justice system in New Zealand is a joke. I wonder how long it'll take before the populace at large wakes up to this fact and realizes that it'll take political change to correct it. One would hope before too many more families suffer this sort of loss at the hands of criminal delinquents, but I am not holding my breath.
Helen?

Is there an appropriate way I could submit a question to you about Firefox on a difficulty I've been recently experiencing? Sorry for the posting here, thanks for your consideration.
